The title of this article says it all. Personally, I feel that as the days pass, our moral compass continues to deteriorate.
One simple action can be carried such a long way; be true to your word.
Think about the ramifications of deviating from your promises. Valued concepts such as respect, hope, trust all die swiftly.
In my years in the work force, I have had the pleasure to work with a great variety of individuals and observe their behavior. However, in that observation, I have noticed such a wide variance of behavior.
I’ve seen that the amount of commitment from the entire chain of command has been diminished. It is a shame to see such a result from years of work, as employees rely upon their peers and leadership for the follow through.
We should all strive to hold each other accountable. With accountability comes respect and trust. With accountability comes commitment. With accountability comes crisp, clean, and effective communication.
Strive to keep your word, regardless if you are at the top of the corporate ladder or if you’re the mail room sorter. Employees won’t respect and work hard for someone who can’t keep their word, whereas employees will work twice as hard for individuals that stay true to their word.
